Importer-Exporter Code (IEC)

The Importer-Exporter Code (IEC) is a compulsory 10-digit identification number issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade for businesses involved in importing or exporting goods and services.

It is linked to the PAN of the entity, remains valid for a lifetime, and does not require renewal or regular compliance filings.

Key Documents Required

PAN Card: Copy of PAN Card of the individual (proprietorship) or firm/company.
Identity Proof: Copy of Applicant's Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, or Passport.
Address Proof of Business: Sale deed or electricity bill, Rent/Lease agreement along with a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the landlord.
Bank Account Proof: A cancelled cheque bearing the pre-printed name of the applicant entity and account number or a bank certificate.
Photograph: Digital passport-sized photograph of the applicant.
Incorporation Document: Partnership Deed, Certificate of Incorporation (from RoC), or Society Registration Certificate (if applicable).
